Corey Gustafson, Chairman
Corey Gustafson is a conservative businessman, university lecturer and native San Diegan who is running for San Diego Republican Central Committee to help our party WIN again in San Diego County.
“We the People” means something to Corey- he believes that government works best when individuals are empowered in their own lives. The best way to do that is by fighting to turn San Diego County red again!
Corey was born in San Diego and raised in Escondido. He graduated from San Pasqual High School and San Diego State University while working for his parents’ small businesses.
He learned about hard work and entrepreneurship by working in small businesses, whether it meant getting up early for prep work or mopping bar floors.
In 2019, Corey cofounded Dogleg Brewing Co. in Vista with his business partners. Dogleg Brewing aimed to bring together two of San Diego’s iconic industries: golf and craft beer. Not coincidentally, they are also two of Corey’s favorite pastimes. Dogleg opened just months before the pandemic started, but the Dogleg team persevered to make it through the pandemic.
Corey’s other passion is university teaching. Since 2014, he served as the director of the Oxford Study Abroad International Relations program. During the course, he lectures in American foreign policy and the national security process.
From 2016 to 2019, he was a lecturer in American Government at California State University-San Bernardino.
Corey is married to Kathryn, a small business owner and native San Diegan.
Dustin Trotter, 1st Vice Chair
Dustin Trotter is a business owner who built his company from the ground up through hard work and dedication. Dustin has an extensive community advocate and volunteer record. He is an active member of the Santee Santa’s program, Santee Food bank, Guardian Angels Church, Santee Parks and Recreation Committee (SPARC), and an appointed member of the Community Oriented Policing Committee (COMPOC).

Elizabeth Spillane, Treasurer
Elizabeth Spillane has an extensive background in political campaigns, fundraising, and grassroots organizing, including a cycle as Finance Director of the Republican Party of San Diego County. She has also worked as a property rights advocate for clients throughout California and currently serves as Chief of Staff to San Diego City Councilman Mark Kersey. Elizabeth graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of San Francisco, where she chaired a small-but-mighty College Republican chapter. In her spare time, Elizabeth is a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children in foster care. She lives in East Village with her husband, Kevin.
