LAW ENFORCEMENT BACKS POOCHIGIAN FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL
SACRAMENTO - Senator Chuck Poochigian joined law enforcement officials representing sheriffs, district attorneys, and peace officers across California today to discuss their support of his candidacy in the race for Attorney General.
Poochigian was joined at the event by Sheriff John McGinness and District Attorney Jan Scully, from Sacramento County, as well as Yuba County Sheriff Virginia Black, Contra Costa Sheriff Warren Rupf, and representatives from the California Sheriffs' Association and the California Peace Officers' Association (CPOA).
"I am proud to stand today with sheriffs, district attorneys and peace officers, representing thousands of law enforcement officers from throughout the state. I believe that public safety is the number one role of government, and always have," said Senator Poochigian. "My support for law enforcement has been unwavering, throughout my career. It's not something that I have just sought to highlight in anticipation of an election."
Poochigian has been endorsed by the California Peace Officers' Association which represents over 3,600 law enforcement officers from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies throughout California. CPOA membership includes rank and file personnel and supervisors including numerous police chiefs from across the state.
Poochigian has also been endorsed by the California State Sheriffs' Association, which represents the collective voice of the elected chief law enforcement officer in each of California's 58 Counties.
In addition, he has been endorsed by over 50 individual elected sheriffs and district attorneys, a number of appointed police chiefs, and local law enforcement organizations including the Anaheim Police Association, Association of Riverside County Chiefs of Police, Glendale Police Officers' Association, and Tulare County Chiefs' Association.
